Host a Russian Tea Party and Help a Needy Child

Tea has been an important part of Russian culture for centuries and is often served at special celebrations with treats such as jams, cakes and candies. However, for many needy children in Russia and other countries of the former Soviet Union, tea parties only exist in their imaginations.

This Christmas gather your friends and family for a special Russian Tea Party that will benefit a needy child in Russia. Here is how it works:

Print one or more recipes for a traditional Russian sweet found here. Follow the recipe directions and prepare your Russian treat. Brew your favorite pot of tea and enjoy with your guests.

During your Russian Tea Party, watch this video that shows how a donation of only $25 to Russian Ministries' Project Hope Christmas outreach can bring the gift of hope to a child in need:

As you pray for the children you have seen, collect at least $25 from your group and send it to Russian Ministries at P.O. Box 496, Wheaton, IL 60187, or click here to donate online.

Each donation of $25 will be used to fill a Project Hope gift box with child-friendly items such as a small stuffed toy, candy, crayons, coloring book, a new hat or pair of mittens and a personal care item such as soap, shampoo or toothpaste. Most importantly, each box will contain either a colorfully illustrated children's Bible, a New Testament, or other age-appropriate Christian literature in the Russian language so that each child will learn about the greatest gift of all: Jesus Christ. Each gift box will be delivered by national Christian leaders to a needy child or orphan during the Russian Christmas season, which begins on January 7.

Let others know about this fun and tasty way to help the children of Russia and other countries of the former Soviet Union this Christmas season!
